As you pour the water into the beaker, the grounds will float unevenly above the water surface. If the coffee beans that you used are fresh, the carbon dioxide will release on foams on top of the water surface. You should allow the forms to remain at the top for 10 - 30 seconds before stirring the coffee. After you have stirred the coffee, the plunger should be placed on top of the container for 60 seconds before pressing it down.

If you are in a hurry, you don’t have to stir the coffee. Instead, you can press the plunger down to make the grounds sink to the bottom of the coffee. To obtain the best flavor from the coffee ground, the ground must be equally submerged to the bottom.

Generally, it can take 4 – 6 minutes to brew a large French press coffee. If it is a small French press, it will only take 2 - 3 minutes. You can experiment with different brewing times to see which suit your taste.
